Position Overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Children & Youth Services, Day Camp Counsellor, Sr. is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an eight-week summer camp program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in camp training & agency orientation.
  • Assists in the development of the summer camp program plan.
  • Ensure the safety & security of the camp.
  • Lead in responding to critical situations.
  • Provide guidance & support to camp counselors.
  • Responsible for supervising children.
  • Maintain professional relationship with peers, children & community members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with children & youth.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Ability to accept supervision and seek counsel.
  • Dependable, punctual and flexible.
  • Second language an asset.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Currently enrolled or recently completed a diploma, degree and/or other certificate in a post-secondary institution.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
In order to be eligible, participants must:
  • Be between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position.
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
  • Have a valid SIN
  • NOTE: International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
