Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Housing Services, the Community Engagement Lead will develop strong working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders to support community engagement in Dixon Hall’s mission and work. This role involves overseeing the entire process of outreach planning, grant writing, and advocacy campaigns, ensuring successful execution and alignment with the organization's mission and values.
This position supports the creation of cohesive, safe, and healthy neighborhoods by fostering relationships and creating sustainable links between Dixon Hall and diverse communities, with a particular focus on ensuring inclusivity and cultural safety for all.
Duties and Responsibilities
Community Outreach and Relations:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local community leaders, organizations, groups, residents, and other stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison and primary contact for community relations initiatives, including responding to concerns, addressing local suggestions, and ensuring respectful engagement.
- Represent Dixon Hall at community tables, forums, and planning sessions, ensuring inclusive participation and that all voices are heard.
- Develop and execute comprehensive community outreach programs, including initiatives that promote public information about Dixon Hall’s services, programs, and events.
- Coordinate and manage community meetings, partnerships, and initiatives to build stronger networks.
- Lead the Community Engagement team in aligning activities with Dixon Hall’s organizational goals and mission.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders such as government entities, nonprofits, and community organizations to ensure program congruence with community priorities.
- Facilitate productive community relations by working proactively with all stakeholders.
- Nurture and support initiatives for People with Lived Experience to foster broader community engagement strategies.
- Provide regular updates and status reports regarding engagement efforts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop project management systems for consistent execution of community outreach initiatives.
- Monitor trends and issues impacting communities and develop responsive strategies to address emerging needs.
- A relevant post-secondary degree and/or equivalent work experience in Social Work, or as a Community Worker.
- Strong understanding of project management fundamentals to deliver programs on time and within budget.
- Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking, mediation, facilitation, and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of local and regional government structures and community planning processes.
- Proficiency in grant writing and securing funding for community initiatives
- Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
- Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
- Must have up-to-date vaccinations against COVID-19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
